Star delta starter wiring diagram, this post is about the main wiring connection of three phase motor with star delta starter and control wiring diagram of star delta starter. For three phase motor we use the direct online starter but mostly for small three phase motor. But high load 3 phase motor we use the star delta starter for motor controlling. A star delta starter is type of motor starter which run 3 phase motor in star in starting time. And when the motor start, after some time it's run the motor in delta connection.

This post is about "how on delay timer works" or how star delta timer works with diagram explanation. In the post you will see a complete wiring diagram of star delta timer. In the diagram 2 light bulbs are wired with 8 pin timer.

In the below ups wiring diagram. First we start from ups battery connection. In the diagram a 12 volt ups/inverter shown with battery connection. Also a two 12 volts 150 watts solar panel shown which is connected in parallel connection. The solar panel connection with solar charge controller shown in diagram. The main incoming 220 VAC supply is connected to the double pole MCB circuit breaker. And after that the supply is connected to a board. In the board two one way switches wired for controlling the two pin outlets. The Main supply goes to ups for charging from one outlets.

The phase wire goes from the ups output supply outlet. This phase (line wire) is connect in board to 4 one way switches. In which one switch control a outlet. Two switches controlled the two light bulb and one switch wired with dimmer switch for controlling the ceiling fan. The neutral wire is common for main wiring and ups wiring.

Which are 3 pole 600 Ampere MCCB circuit breaker. And have 5 other 100 Ampere circuit breakers. In below three phase distribution board wiring diagram shown. The wiring connection is start from the main 600 A MCCB circuit breaker. The main 3 phase four wire supply enters to the panel board. The 3 Phase Line 1, Line 2, and Line 3 (red, yellow, blue) are connecting to the line points of mccb circuit breaker. The Neutral wire (black wire) was connected to the bus bar.

From the Main MCCB circuit breaker the 3 phase supply goes to the upper bus bars. And for each 100 Ampere MCCB supply was got from the bus bar. And supply will goes to each load from 100 A circuit breakers.

In the blue wire a current transformer install which provide the supply to the Ampere meter. And ammeter will shown the total load running ampere.
Note that the ampere meter and current transformer are 200/5A. If you install a current transformer with ampere meter for measuring running load. Then you must use the same ratio of CT and amp meter.

In the above diagram two volt meter are installed. This is 0 to 500 VAC panel board volt meters. The first volt meter will measure the voltage between L1 and L2. And 2nd volt meter will shown the voltage between L2 and L3.

The 3 light indicators are wired in the 3 phase panel board wiring diagram. These light indicators rated voltage is 220 volts. For that neutral wire is also required. So the neutral wire is connected to the all light indicators. And for each indicator there own line wire (phase wire).

In the panel board we have also an earthling point. The earth wire was connected to earth bus bar and panel board body also. You can see this in the above 3 phase panel board wiring diagram.

This post is about the single phase motor winding resistance. In this post you will learn about the single phase induction motor winding resistance. In the single phase induction motor we have two types of winding. In which one is called main winding also known with running winding. And 2nd winding is called auxiliary winding also known with starting winding.

This is very important to know about the single phase induction motor winding resistance. Because we did not know about this, we can connect the supply and capacitor to the motor. Or we cannot do the capacitor connection with single phase motor. As I written above that single phase motor have two types winding and each winding a have there resistance. But which winding resistance is high then other winding, that's is important point...


In the single phase motor, the main winding is make from thick wire which means that this winding will me low resistance then starting winding. The starting winding is made from the thin wire (SWG) which means that this wire will be high resistance then other one. 

For example if the main or running winding is made from the 21 SWG and its resistance is 2O ohms. And the starting winding is made from the 24 SWG wire. The resistance of this winding will be high. 

We know that the point in which the two winding connect together is called common point. And the main winding resistance is low then auxiliary winding. which means that the low resistance between common will be the run and high resistance with common will be start. So the supply will be goes to the common and run and capacitor will be connect between the run and start.

Today I am sharing staircase timer wiring diagram. In this post you will complete learn how to use a on delay timer as staircase timer with finder 8 pin relay. In the today staircase wiring with timer diagram. I use a on delay timer which mostly use for star delta connection, a 8 pin relay, and push button switches.

Why I use 8 pin relay with timer


In the above staircase timer wiring diagram I use the 8 pin finder relay. So I can switch off any device my using the timer than why I use relay in above circuit diagram.

When operate the timer. The timer change the normally close to open circuit in on delay timer but this timer did not switch off himself. In other words the timer did not reset automatically. So in the above case we need to reset timer automatically when the specific timer over. So I use relay as holding current to relay and as reset for timer.

Today I am sharing with new the simple and easy 3 phase motor current calculation formula for LT motors. In this post I am sharing with you a nameplate of 3 phase low voltage induction motor. In the name plate all data given my manufacture company.

3 Phase Motor Current Calculation Formula Explained



In the below image I shown a 3 phase motor nameplate. In the motor name plate the company provide the motor is 15 KW 3 phase induction motor. The Eff of motor is 0.89 and PF is 0.85. The volts of the motor 380V and Amps are 30.1.

So this data is provided by the company. Now first see the image and after that we start doing current calculation of 3 phase motor. That how comply calculate the current of three phase motor and how 30.1 amperes are given in nameplate.

For 3 phase low voltage motor current calculation we need the motor volts, Eff, PF. For three phase motor amps calculation the below formula is used.

3 phase motor current calculation formula is P/(√3xVxPfxEff) or P/(1.732xVxPfxEff) Both are same.

So our motor power is 15KW with 15 x 1000 = 15000 Watts. Motor volts is 380 volts, Eff is 0.89 and PF is 0.85 according the above nameplate.

So if we calculate 15000/(1.732x380x0.85x0.89)

15000/(497.89) So 15000 / 497.89 = 30.12 Amps Or Load current of motor.

By using this formula you can calculate the 3 phase low voltage motor. This is very simple and easy formula.

Forward Reverse Motor Control Diagram for Three Phase Motor


For three phase motor forward reverse control circuit. We use 2 'magnetic contactors' as forward reverse switch. Here I showed the forward reverse wiring diagram. In the diagram I connect the incoming three phase supply L1, L2, L3 to the MCCB circuit breaker (molded case circuit breaker). And from the MCCB breaker, I connect the supply to both 'magnetic contactors'.


Here the L1 is connecting to the both contactors first terminal. L2 wire connected to the both 'contactors' 2nd terminal. And L3 wire connected to both 'contactors' 3rd terminal.

But the out connection is different. Where L1 is connected on T1 terminal and connected on T3 terminal in 2nd magnetic contactor. The L2 is connected is both contactor in same terminals (T2). The L3 is connected in T3 terminal in first contactor and in 2nd contactor in T1 terminal.

After that the three phase supply goes to thermal overload relay and from thermal overload relay the soppy goes to the 3 phase motor connection plate and provided to 3 phase motor. Here I have shown the forward reverse motor control diagram for 3 phase motor.

Now come to the controlling wiring. Here I had shown that the both cont actors are 220 VAC. This means that the contactors also required the neutral wire. In the above 3 phase motor forward reverse wiring diagram.
The neutral wire first goes to the thermal overload relay NC contacts and to the light indicator. From the 2nd thermal overload relay Normal close contacts the supply goes to the both contactors coil contacts/terminals. And connect to both magnetic contactors A1-A1 terminals.

After that the L1 wire is goes to the thermal overload relay NO contacts and from 2nd thermal relay NO contacts terminal the wire goes to the Light indicator. So if the motor trip the light indicator will glow up.

For Normally close (red/stop) push button switch the supply comes from the L3 in red color wire. And from the NC switch the wire goes to both NO switches (forward and reverse push button). And from here the Hold current wire goes to the both magnetic contactors NO auxiliary contacts(connection points).


From the forward push button switch the (touch current) supply goes to 2nd contactor NC auxiliary contacts and from the auxiliary contacts the wire goes to the first magnetic contactor NO auxiliary contacts terminal and coil A2 terminal as shown in the above forward reverse motor control diagram.

The same wiring connection is done with the reverse push button switch. The touch or starting current goes from the reverse push button and connect to the first contactor Normally close auxiliary contact/terminal and from the auxiliary contacts the wire goes to 2nd contactor Normally open auxiliary contacts/terminal and contactor coil A2 terminal as shown in above diagram.

In the above connection, if the one contactor energized then other contactor will not energized in same time.
