We use capacitor in our electric fans, in this article i am gonna to write about the use of capacitor in fan or Ceiling fan. Every body know that a single phase motor can not be start with out using capacitor and the electrical fan are also a type of single phase motor.
We use two types of capacitors in single phase motor, in which one is Starting capacitor and 2nd is Running capacitor. In this article we discus the function of a capacitor in ceiling fan however we will discus the starting and running capacitor soon in our incoming posts.
As i said that we have lagging current and fan required leading current not a leading voltage, so the capacitor make the current lead and when we use the capacitor then our supply have a leading power factor or Current.
So the ceiling fan required the Leading power factor and the capacitor makes the leading power factor which start the ceiling fan.

Use Of Capacitor In Ceiling Fan:
Normally in our electric supply we have the lagging power factor or we can said that we lagging current (I) and a ceiling fan required a leading power factor or leading current (I).As i said that we have lagging current and fan required leading current not a leading voltage, so the capacitor make the current lead and when we use the capacitor then our supply have a leading power factor or Current.
So the ceiling fan required the Leading power factor and the capacitor makes the leading power factor which start the ceiling fan.

ReplyDeleteThanks dear
ReplyDeleteGood answer, but little bit will discuss about windings .........thank you
ReplyDeleteINSHA ALLAH we will discuss about the winding........ thanks
Deletenow, i would like to know if we put in a bigger capacitor would the fan run faster
ReplyDeleteDear i a fan working on 2uf capacitor, it's means that fan is design for this, and this main rated 220 volts but in case your voltage is between 130 to 160 then you can use 3 uf capacitor. But in case you use a big size capacitor and your voltage fixed 220 volts, then your fan will run faster but this will be for a short time and after a short time your fan internal winding will be burn.
DeleteSo if a fan old capacitor is 2 uf and it's not run faster then change it and instill a new capacitor of 2 uf. And do not use a big size capacitor.....
i hope you understand
Please sir i want to know the role of the starting and running capacitor in ceiling fan.

ReplyDeleteDear soon i will write about this topic with complete guide.
Deletecapacitor will provide the phase difference between starting and running coil that's why capacitor is used and another reason is that the fan motor is not self start motor so they need some energy or force to rotate.
ReplyDeleteWhy do we get shock if we touch capacitor's wires immediately after we switch off the fan

ReplyDeleteThere are two sorts of electrical charge, positive charge as Protons and negative charge as Electrons. At the point when a voltage is set across a capacitor the positive (+ve) charge rapidly gathers on one plate while a comparing negative (- ve) charge aggregates on the other plate and for each molecule of +ve charge that shows up at one plate a charge of a similar sign will leave from the - ve plate. high voltage diode manufacturer
